Today I launched my new blog.
I've been blogging since 2001 and have maintained my website since 1996. Over those years (how did so much time go by!), I've published student lessons, teacher training materials, presentations of various levels of professionalism, and random thoughts.
In launching the new site, I exported all of my blog posts from Moveable Type, imported them into WordPress and exported them again, and then use a Drupal module called wp2drupal to land them safely here with all the pictures, categories, and comments. Then I set up transferring the other content. Whoa! What was I thinking? In the digital world, it has gotten so easy to keep moving the stuff along that we need another metric to purge.
Tonight I've been reading Clay Shirky's "Here Comes Everybody". His fourth chapter compares the old way with all content filtered before it was published with the new way with content filtered after it's published. Hopefully, the content I moved here will end up in the filters of educators who find some of this valuable.
